The Digital Design & CIM Lab, led by Professor Huabei LIU from the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, is dedicated to tackling the fundamental technical challenges of BIM engines, civil engineering analysis software, and CIM platforms. These efforts are benchmarked against international standards for core products in this field.
The lab’s objectives encompass:
(1) Formulating core design algorithms and software.
(2) Creating an indigenous software platform that covers all disciplines and project phases.
(3) Constructing a CIM-oriented urban digital twin platform.
The lab primarily focuses on the fundamental platforms, algorithms, and software tools associated with digital design. Emphasis is placed on achieving breakthroughs in critical technologies such as nonlinear modeling, multi-scale and multi-physics simulation analysis, and digital thread integration. The research initiatives include:
(1) Crafting a suite of ecologically defined tools and standards for modeling.
(2) Furnishing algorithms and software tools tailored for domains like underground engineering and urban planning.
(3) Facilitating the ecological advancement of model-defined and AI-assisted design software.
