The Smart Perception and Construction Internet of Things Lab, led by Professor Sheng ZHONG from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, primary focusesonsmartconstruction site and large-scale infrastructure maintenance.
The lab’s objectives encompass:
(1) Developing a comprehensive methodology for the digitized representation of critical construction elements, encompassing interactions among human, machine, material, and environment factors.
(2) Exploring essential technologies such as element status perception, flexible networking, collaborative control, trusted computation, and fault diagnosis.
(3) Addressing the needs for safety monitoring, quality inspection, and condition assessment by creating early warning mechanisms.
At its core, the lab's research initiatives include:
(1) Processing multi-modal dynamic data through reliable perception devices, leveraging heterogeneous sensor networks, ensuring reliable data transmission, and employing semantic analysis.
(2) Enabling smart comprehension of complex scenarios, online status perception, and pre-diagnosis ofsmartconstruction equipment.
(3) Implementing privacy-preserving computations and establishing robust data security techniques.
The lab's dedication is poised to yield a spectrum of comprehensive technological solutions, spanning collaborative perception devices tailored for human-machine-environment interactions, adaptable equipment optimized for confined spaces, and a specialized cloud platform customized to the unique requirements of construction projects.
