The Smart Bridge Construction Lab is a collaborative initiative between NCTI-DC and CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Company Ltd. Led by Mr. Yongtao ZHANG, the deputy general manager and chief engineer of CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., the lab aims todrive innovation in smart bridge construction in China.
The primary objective of the lab is to establish a value chain for smart bridge construction by seamlessly integrating civil engineering, information technology, and artificial intelligence.
The main tasks of the lab include:
(1) Pioneering original bridge construction technologies and enhancing the overall technology innovation system, with a particular focus on addressing challenges related to super-span bridges.
(2) Exploring key technologies in long-life intelligent cable design and manufacturing, ultra-large offshore construction equipment, moving balance tower cranes for ultra-high cable towers, new reinforcement welding techniques, and digital bridge construction platforms.
(3) Developing a series of major construction equipment and software platforms to significantly enhance the integrated services available during bridge construction.
The lab will conduct research on prospective and leading key technologies in bridge construction. This includes theories and methods for smart bridge construction, advanced measurement and control technologies, equipment for smart bridge construction, optimization algorithms for smart material composition, and a cloud-based bridge construction platform.
